Warning: This article contains spoilers for Avengers: Infinity War‘s ending.
Tom Holland is lucky that he’s so likeable after he spoiled Avengers: Infinity War to cinemagoers who were just about to see it.
Directors Joe and Anthony Russo brought Tom along to a screening of the Marvel smash at Arc Light Cinemas Hollywood, bringing him out before the movie had started and it took him seconds to spoil the ending.
Whoops. Don’t watch the video if you don’t want to be spoiled.
“I’m alive,” Tom joked as he walked out to join the Russo Brothers on stage in reference to Spider-Man’s tragic ‘death’ during the bleak climax to Avengers: Infinity War.
Fortunately, there wasn’t time for the crowd to digest what he meant as Benedict Cumberbatch was introduced too and tried to gloss over Tom’s bombshell: “I’m also alive.”
But if they thought they’d got away with it, Tom probably revealed that he had said a spoiler when he asked if the crowd had seen it yet and looked a bit sheepish when he realised they hadn’t watched it.
Still, at least he isn’t as bad at secrets as Mark Ruffalo, as everyone has just realised that he spoiled the ending to Avengers: Infinity War last year.
During a television interview for Thor: Ragnarok with Good Morning America in July 2017, Ruffalo agreed that Marvel movies don’t usually end well for the heroes. “Wait until you see this next one. Half… everybody dies!”
Avengers: Infinity War is out now. Book tickets here.
