Avengers: Infinity War's Sebastian Stan almost went bankrupt but was saved by an old pay cheque

Sebastian Stan might now be in one of the biggest movies of all time in Avengers: Infinity War, but his career hasn’t always been smooth sailing.

In an interview with GQ, he revealed that he almost went bankrupt before a previous role ended up saving him from receiving the bad news.

“I went out for everything. I went out for John Carter of Mars, which ended up being my buddy Taylor [Kitsch], and then that movie was what it was,” he reflected on the earlier days of his career.

“I’ve had that phone call from my accountant that said, ‘I was about to call you to tell you that you’re bankrupt. And then you just got a residual check in the mail for this movie Hot Tub Time Machine,‘ you know?”

We doubt he’ll have any such worries in the near future given his role as Bucky Barnes – AKA the Winter Soldier – in the MCU and Stan thinks the future of the franchise is also bright.

“I feel like over the next five years we’re going to get some interesting movies that are going to be much, much more diverse than what we’ve seen probably in the last five years,” he explained.

“And it’s time. I feel like the model you’ve seen – you know, the traditional movie – it’s like, how much can you watch that film until you sort of can’t?”

Bucky has actually been hanging out in Wakanda since Captain America: Civil War and before the new movie arrived, we found out how Shuri fixed him from all those brainwashing issues.
