Alex Jones makes surprise return to The One Show TONIGHT just halfway through maternity leave

ALEX Jones will make a surprise return to The One Show TONIGHT – just halfway through her maternity leave.

The 44-year-old went on maternity leave back in August ahead of welcoming her third child – and first daughter – with husband Charlie Thomson.

Since then, Alex has appeared on the BBC programme on a couple of occasions and at the end of Thursday's show, co-host Ronan Keating revealed she would be back again tonight.

He said: "Last show of the year tomorrow. Alex Jones will be back. She'll be joining myself and JJ to talk Strictly ahead of this weekend's final.

Angellica Bell added: "We'll always be joined by Lad Baby, who are hoping to have their fourth number one single this Christmas."

Alex and Charlie welcomed daughter Annie in August, a younger sister for their sons Teddy and Kit.

Alex made a special appearance on The One Show in September via video link and spoke about her newborn.

She said: "Ah, it is so nice to be back. You know what, we have been great.
