A Place In The Sun presenter is the latest start to sign up for I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! | The Sun

TRAVEL presenter Scarlette Douglas has signed up for the new series of I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!

The host, 35, quit her job hosting A Place in the Sun in August after seven years to focus on a new property series for Channel 4, Worst House on the Street, with her brother Stuart Douglas.

Now she will join big names like Boy George and Mike Tindall in the new ITV series when it kicks off on November 6.

A TV insider said: “Scarlette has what it takes to become a big household name like Stacey Solomon and Joel Dommett after her time in the Jungle.

“She has proved to be a hit amongst viewers following the success of her property shows and there is no doubt that she will be inundated with offers for more telly gigs.”

Together Scarlette and Stuart also front Flipping Fast, alongside architect George Clarke.

And they took over from Kirstie Allsopp and Phil Spencer for a special edition of Love It or List It as part of Channel 4’s Black to Front project last year.

Scarlette, who has also performed on the West End, found her niche on screen after landing a screen test through her and Stuart’s property development work.

But she has told how she had to leave A Place In The Sun through exhaustion.

She said: “Last year we couldn’t really travel because of Covid and Brexit and all of that sort of stuff, but then in August I got stuck in Spain with Covid for two weeks.

“When I looked at my diary for this year and at the end of last year I had a bit of a burnout, I had a bit of a meltdown.

“I thought, ‘I don’t know how I’m going to do this’, but by the grace of God and a lot of vitamins and a lot of water, it is kind of getting me through.”

An ITV spokesman said: “We’ll announce our line-up nearer transmission.”

It comes as I’m A Celeb returns to Australia in two weeks time after it was moved to Gwrych Castle in Wales for two years due to restrictions caused by the pandemic.

Other stars due to join Ant and Dec in the jungle this year include Loose Women star Charene White and Love Island’s Olivia Attwood.

It comes as panicked bosses were yesterday forced to close the camp after torrential rain and floods hit the area.

Work on the set was cancelled, with all crew forced off site by the extreme conditions, just days before the celebrities are due to check in to camp.

Trilby is old hat for Olly

IN this age of photoshopping and Instagram filters, it’s hard to keep up with who’s had what work done.

Which is great news if you are a celebrity trying to keep a procedure on the down low, wouldn’t you say, Olly Murs?

The Voice coach has always gamely laughed off rumours he had a hair transplant in his early thirties.

He was at it again yesterday when probed by Alan Carr on his Life’s A Beach podcast.

Asked why he stopped wearing his trilby hat, Olly said with a laugh: “My hair just miraculously got thicker – it got thicker and longer.

“I don’t know what was happening at that point so I thought I’d continue without the hat.”

Olly is preparing for this weekend’s final of The Voice.

His act David Adeogun wowed at the weekend singing a version of Adele’s Easy On Me.

MUNYA CHAWAWA will make a documentary about late Zimbabwe president Robert Mugabe.

The Channel 4 film, How To Survive A Dictator, sees the actor and comic meet Mugabe’s nephews, spiritual adviser and victims.

Munya, who grew up there, said: “I love Zimbabwe. It’s so pivotal to who I am.”

Enders gay kiss 'weird'

EASTENDERS actress Balvinder Sopal has revealed she felt daunted by her character Suki Panesar’s lesbian love affair storyline.

She said the Albert Square mum’s sexual awakening had been a challenge.

Balvinder added: “For a lot of my career I have played women who have never been exposed in that way, sexually.

“It has always been women who cannot speak English, that wear a hijab.

“Suki is everything I have never played.

"So doing kissing scenes with somebody that is not a partner is quite daunting and weird and strange.”

She also told BBC Radio Kent that co-star Heather Peace, who plays love interest Eve Unwin, had been her rock.

Adam kids: Scissors a cut above

COMING runner-up on The Masked Dancer failed to impress Adam Garcia's kids.

The Coyote Ugly actor, who was unmasked as Onomatopoeia on Saturday, said they were more fans of Pearly King (Bruno Tonioli) and the ITV show’s winning character Scissors – revealed to be Glee actress Heather Morris.

Adam said: “They were disappointed I wasn’t Pearly King. My eldest . . .  she really liked Scissors.

“I thought they would be a lot more excited. But they’re only four and seven, so the four- year-old was like, ‘Why are you in the TV?’.

“And I said, ‘Well, are you really excited it was me?’.

“They’re like, ‘I mean, yeah. But why are you in the TV?’. Thanks, kids!

“The show is about entertainment. I had to sort of talk myself into it – ‘C’mon dude, you’re here to entertain people’.

“But coming second to Heather Morris, I’m stoked with that.”
