The BRIT Awards 2020 are over for another year, and the celebs have celebrated the annual event in style, parting the night away at swanky…
Tutor House, a job agency, is looking for people to become ‘sleep’ tutors.
The new job is for a service that has just launched, which allows students to be tutored while they’re sleeping.
It was introduced after research found people retain more information while asleep, and has been designed to help students increase their memory retention during exam season.
The research involved participants being taught a series of associations between words and pictures.
After learning the basic associations, some participants took a 90-minute nap while the words were replayed to them, whereas others stayed awake with no reactivation.
Following the test, researchers discovered that the participants who were presented with the words in their sleep recalled the information better than those who didn’t sleep.
Those interested in becoming a tutor will have to explain the learning material to their students while they are awake, then repeat the information to the individual as they sleep so they can reactivate memories and revise the information they have just learned.
Sleep tutors can run sessions at any time of the day or night, depending on the student’s needs, either remotely through online channels or in person.
In-person sleep tuition is expected to cost £100 per hour due to the anti-social hours associated with the service, and remote sleep tuition will cost £50 per hour.
‘With the amount of studying students juggle these days, it’s hard to imagine how they find time to work on every subject,’ said Alex Dyer, founder of Tutor House.
‘So, once we heard about these new findings, we thought it would be a great service to launch onsite.
‘We will be trialling the service for the next six months and dependent on its popularity we hope to make it a permanent category on Tutor House.
‘This is something that has come up in discussion with both tutors and students in the past on Tutor House and we’re hoping that by offering “sleep” tuition as a new service, it will help more individuals learn in a time-sensitive and effective way.
‘If you are interested please sign up, we are very excited to see how this can help!’
