Shopping for new clothes should be a treat – but it can often leave people feeling bad about themselves.
Not only is sizing a nightmare, changing room mirrors can be extremely unflattering.
So to show how normal it is to dread trying garments on, Georgie Clarke documented a recent experience.
The 25-year-old, from London, posed in a variety of different clothing items.
She tried on a few dresses and captured candid shots showing what she looked like as she went along.
Georgie captioned the post: "Welcome to a series of the most unflattering changing room lighting and badly made clothes I’ve ever seen in my LIFE."
The social media star continued: "The reality of this situation is… it’s so hard to not see yourself in all those badly lit angels of the mirrors and think bloody hell is that what I really look like?!
"It’s NOT just you who feels this way, I promise.
"The old version of me would been upset to see myself like this… in fact it would’ve ruined my day and I’d have probably gone home and spoken negatively about my self for the next month.
"The version of me who accepts and loves myself knows that I can’t let one fitting room change my feelings about myself.
"They’re TERRIBLE but that doesn’t make my body terrible. My body is fab."
Georgie's 691,000 followers praised her for speaking so openly about her insecurities, with 35,000 of them liking the post.
One wrote: "So relatable. Why do they do that? Don't they want to sell more items?
"Shouldn't it make their chances better by making people feel good. Put some soft light in there."
Another said: "I honestly thought it was only me. Every time I go in their changing rooms I come out feeling so awful about myself."
And a third added: "I mean you look bloody sensational but yeah I seriously often wonder who the F thinks it's a good idea to design these changing rooms with the aim to make us feel s***."
