Woman claims massaging certain parts of your face can cure a hangover

With the football and the hot weather and the general summer vibes – you might be experiencing more hangovers of late.

But one woman claims to have an unconventional cure – in the form of facial massage.

TikTok user and wellness advocate Sakshi (@wellnesswithsakshi) shared the technique in a video on the app.

In the clip, Sakshi uses an acupuncture tool to knead her face.

‘Next time you’ve had too much to drink and wake up feeling that hangover… try massaging each of these reflex points for 1-2 minutes,’ she wrote on the clip.

‘I added these two points on the right side of my face for liver and gallbladder. This will help ease the hangover by suppressing the effects of alcohol.’

The points on the face she massaged included around and under the nose, between the eyebrows and both sides of the face.

She concluded: ‘You can use the end of a ballpoint pen or anything with a rounded tip.’

Sakshi also pointed out that ‘the best cure of all is not drinking.’

Since being posted the video has been viewed over 400,000 times and those in the comments were hopeful that the hack was the real thing.

‘Needed it this morning after last night,’ said one user.

‘My fyp knows I’m struggling right now,’ added another.

While others were apprehensive and doubted its potential.

‘I don’t think this is gonna erase the damage of 12 tequila Red Bulls,’ joked one follower.

‘Being hungover is a mindset it’s not real,’ wrote a second dubious viewer.

To uncover if this method is fact or fiction, we asked Dr Aishah Iqbal for her expert medical opinion on the matter:

‘The points the woman is referring to appear to be in line with acupressure points,’ she tells Metro.co.uk

‘These particular points are said to relieve headaches and while there is evidence of acupuncture aiding headache relief in some cases, there is no strong evidence that massaging these parts of the face will help cure a hangover.’

So, what can cure a hangover? Dr Aishah has simple basic steps to help you feel better.

‘To truly ease a hangover, do three things,’ she explains.

‘Drink plenty of water, get some sleep and eat a nutritious balanced meal.’
