Mummy influencer Louise Pentland, 35, has been bossing life, particularly mum life, which could well be the reason why she chose to pen a book called just that – MumLife.

The bestselling book is an honest and heartwarming account and ‘mumoir’ of Louise’s experience raising her adorable daughters, Darcy and Pearl, aged nine and two.

What began as a few vlogs here and there about lipstick and wall paint has amounted to a huge Instagram following of 2.4 million, the label of bestselling author after her 2017 book Wilde Like Me, and a successful career as a mum and partner to now-fiancé Liam, 42.

And Louise shows no signs of stopping, with her autobiography, which is deeply personal and explores the highs of lows of motherhood, just scratching the surface when it comes to what the mum-of-two has been up to as of late.

In a bid to find out the secret to Louise’s success, OK! Online caught up with the mummy blogger-favourite, and she even shared some of her top mum hacks – result!

Chatting about her new book MumLife, Louise told us: “I just want something easy, so I thought I’d do a light, fluffy book about motherhood that’ll be so easy, but it turns out I was wrong.

“It was not easy and I ended up delving into huge parts of my life that I hadn’t imagined I would share, but it felt like the right time and like the right vehicle to share those things in.

“Sometimes it’s easier to write things down than it is to say in a vlog or Instagram, and it became a sort of memoir of womanhood.”

And the 35 year old Northampton-based star is quick to assure us that she really likes to be as candid and open as possible on social media, admitting she’s no “mega-mum.”

“In normal times I have lots of support so Darcy goes to school and we have a nanny four times a week to do childcare for Pearl so I do have the time to get things done and I’m really keen for people to know that, as I don’t want them to think I’m just some mega-mum who magics time. I don’t,” Louise explained.

And, discussing coronavirus, she continued: “I just have systems in place but when coronavirus came I kind of fell apart a bit and had to put things on pause because nobody is super mum and no woman can do it all, nor can any man as much as they’ll tell you they can.

Louise, who admitted to sticking her head out of the window while chatting to us to grab some fresh air in-between interviews, also told us three of her top, food related mummy hacks and they’re pretty juicy…

Louise’s top food hacks

  • “My number one is frubes – put them in the freezer and they freeze and become ice lollies and they don’t know. They don’t know they’re having a yoghurt, they think they’re having a an ice lolly, and you become mum of the year to them.”
  • “With soup it’s often too hot for them, but if you put an ice cube in it and stir it around the ice cube melts and it becomes a really good temperature. And if it’s thick soup it doesn’t matter. It’ll go a tiny bit more watery, but it’s only one ice cube.”
  • “This is one for babies. Pearl initially wouldn’t touch certain foods, but if you grate it instead of chopping they’ll prefer it. They seem to prefer the texture of grated, like grated apple for example.”

Louise, who admitted to wanting to be a “mummy or ballerina” when she was growing up, also spoke to us about how she went about explaining coronavirus to her little ones.

“Darcy understood what was going on because her school was shut but we sort of softened it for her. With Pearl we call it the yucky germs and she’s still waiting for a swimming pool and saying ‘when the yucky germs are gone we’ll go swimming,’” Louise told us.

She continued: “But you want to shield your children and not terrify them so it was highs and lows. It was lovely to have that extra time with them but also difficult because there’s a reason we have childcare and nursery because women need that time and all of a sudden we didn’t have it.

“I think there are going to be a lot of mums that need very, very big wines.”
