Since being furloughed, my cocaine habit has become out of control

DEAR DEIDRE: I’VE had a weekend cocaine habit for four years.

Since being furloughed, I am using four times a week and snorting through my savings at a scary rate.

I am 45 and work in the hospitality sector. I stuck to a routine while furloughed through the summer and I thought I had my depression under control.

But slowly it has surfaced again. I have even resorted to self-harming when I feel really low.

My coke habit is the one thing that helps me cope with the dark days but I have stopped looking at my bank balance as it makes my depression worse.

DEIDRE SAYS: This is the first step to recovery – in recognising you have an addiction and that you are now getting into financial difficulties.
