Christmas is the time for giving.
So when locals found out a neighbour was spending the festive season alone, they carried out an act of kindness.
The sweet residents in Quebec, Canada, prepared a slap-up meal with all the trimmings – and they even gifted some sweet treats too.
Their gesture went down a treat with the person marking Christmas without their friends and family.
The grateful Redditor snapped a picture of the festive feast, before sharing it online.
They wrote: “Neighbours knew I was going to be alone for Christmas so they brought me this.”
The post has garnered 42,700 upvotes in a matter of hours – and many praised the residents for the thoughtful gesture.
One commenter said: “Wow. You have some great neighbours. That is very nice.”
Another wrote: “I hope it was as delicious as it is beautiful!
“Merry Christmas!! So sorry you had to be by yourself, but I'm glad you have people around to let you know you're not alone!”
And a third added: “That’s so nice. I’ve never been alone until this year and a lot of these posts are helping.”
Many Redditors added that the act of kindness had made them feel emotional.
One responder admitted: “The tears would be flowing when they brought that over.”
A second said: “It’s OK to cry a little bit.”
Another confessed: “I would cry. So hard.”
And a fourth joked: "If I was eating it I'd be doing so with tears of joy."
