Queen ‘thinks the word pregnant is vulgar’ – so she says something else instead

We’ve had lots of lovely Royal baby bumps in the last few years thanks to Kate Middleton, Zara Tindall and now Meghan Markle.

Like most grannies, we expect the Queen has been proudly keeping her friends and family members updated through each of the pregnancies.

But when she’s chatting to her pals (we assume over a nice cup of tea and a scone) she apparently never uses the word pregnant.

In fact, according to a royal insider she actually thinks the term is "vulgar".

Instead she says "in the family way", reports US Weekly.

The Queen has a large and growing family, with eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren – so she must have used the term plenty of times over the year!

Next year she will become great-granny for their eighth time when Meghan Markle and Prince Harry welcome their first child, which is due in the spring.

When the couple announced their happy news on their eve of their Royal Tour, a Kensington Palace spokesperson said: "The Queen, Duke of Edinburgh, Prince of Wales, Duchess of Cornwall and the Duke Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are delighted for the couple and were able to congratulate them on Friday at [Princess Eugenie’s wedding] in person.”

The Queen posed proudly with her grandchildren in an official photo released to mark her 90th birthday last year.

The young royals, including Prince George and Princess Charlotte, reportedly call their grandmother Gan-Gan. How cute!
