McDonald’s customer says you should never bin receipts – keeping them saves cash

Many of us throw our McDonald’s receipts away without a second thought.

But by doing so, you could unwittingly be missing out on some big savings.

On Facebook’s Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK group, a fast food fan revealed how each receipt has a unique code on the bottom.

You can use this to access an online survey that gives you different rewards.

By filling out a bit of feedback online, you can redeem a voucher for a Big Mac and fries for £1.99 – as well as other goodies.

Given that the menu items usually cost £2.29 more, you’re making an impressive saving by taking this extra step.

According to Manchester Evening News, a Facebook user wrote: "MCDONALD'S HACK. Don’t throw your receipt and use it for the discount.

"I always keep Mcd receipts in my wallet for use it in the future. Doing the survey doesn't take more than 2 mins.

"£1.99 for Big Mac + medium Fries (yes you have option to change the burger). Sometimes I change it to Quarter Pounder.

"Big Mac + Fries without receipt = £3.09 + 1.19 = £4.28.

“With receipt = £1.99. You save £2.29.”

By saving up two receipts, you could end up saving a fiver at the fast food outlet.

The Facebook user added: “If you and your partner use same hack (yes you need two receipts on separate orders) you can save £2.29 x 2 = £4.58. Enjoy!!"
