As salons reopened this week we’ve seen more and more celebs going for the chop, including Love Islander Lucie Donlan, who has ditched her hair extensions for a shoulder-length cut.

Lucie, 23, revealed that she was giving her hair a “rest from extensions”, as she showed off her new hairstyle on her Instagram stories.

This follows after fellow Islander Molly-Mae Hague kicked off the trend last month when she removed her extensions in favour of a chic blonde bob. The Hertfordshire-born influencer was famed for her lengthy locks, but her new shorter style has proved a big hit with fans.

And Lucie, who is also known for her waist-length, beachy locks, now appears to be channeling Molly-Mae with a sleek long bob (or “lob”).

It’s a huge change for the star who, since her Love Island debut, hasn’t appeared to have changed her hairstyle much at all.

But it looks like Lucie is embracing her new look, as she later returned to her Instagram stories to show off her extension-free lengths again.

The professional surfer is seen running her fingers through her hair in the short clip, as well as posing for the camera.

Lucie’s hair looks super healthy, which she claims is because of Geni Hair’s Hair Smoothing Kit, £69 here.

The star regularly takes to Instagram to talk about the vegan brand, revealing that she uses the hair-smoothing kit after surfing to keep her hair frizz-free.

“It’s really important for me to take the best care of my hair and extensions because the cold air and the sea water can make my locks super brittle and dry,” she says in a video posted to her Instagram account.

“I actually look forward to coming home and washing my hair because Geni makes my locks so much more manageable,” she says in another post.

The three-part kit consists of a shampoo, a smoother and a leave-in treatment, with the brand claiming it gives “salon quality results in less than an hour”.

The treatment also claims to keep frizz at bay for up to 12 washes, and it’s also sulphate-free, cruelty-free and vegan.
