I wasn't initially invited to my boyfriend’s brother’s wedding – now I've said no

DEAR DEIDRE:  I DIDN’T get an invite to my boyfriend’s brother’s wedding. Now they’ve climbed down and asked me to come I have said no, as I feel so insulted.

For lockdown I moved in with my boyfriend and it’s gone brilliantly until now.

I have got on well with all his family too. I’m 23 and he is 26.

My fella is his brother’s best man.

But, now they can only have 30 people at the wedding, they said they hoped I didn’t mind not being there, as I was a new addition to the family circle. I said I was very hurt and my boyfriend talked to his mum.

The next day his brother called to say an invitation was in the post, but I said no thank you. Do you think they were disrespectful?

And should I pursue this relationship further?

DEIDRE SAYS: Get over yourself and accept the invitation graciously.

There’s enough stress already around arranging weddings in the current circumstances. The family are clearly keen to make you feel welcome.

Don’t risk wrecking a promising relationship.
