Carole Middleton is reported to be ‘indispensable’ to The Cambridges when it comes to helping with looking after the family’s three children.

Like grandparents across the country, it’s reported that Kate Middleton's Mum is taking charge of childcare responsibilities during the long summer holiday.

It is believed the 66-year-old regularly spends time with her three grandchildren Prince Louis, 3, Princess Charlotte, 4, and Prince George, 6 while Kate and William work their busy schedules.

While they could opt for the full-time help of a team of nannies, it’s believed that Kate Middleton prefers to entrust the care of the children with her Mum.

Royal commentator Katie Nicholl has previously reported how Carol moved in with the royals for a period of time following the arrival of George in 2013.

She explained in True Royalty’s documentary, Kate Middleton: Heir We Go Again: “Kate was having a conversation with the Queen in which she confided that she had found being with George on her own, and not having a full-time nanny or a maternity nurse, very hard.

“William and Kate wanted to be hands-on parents, and they did it until September and then they recruited a nanny.”

In the interim, Carol moved in to assist Kate and get to know her newborn grandson.

Nowadays, Carol shares the load with their nanny Teresa Maria Turrion Borallo, but still keys an important role in raising the children.

The Spanish received her formal training at the prestigious Norland College and has worked with the family for close to eight years.

Carole has previously said how much she enjoys being a grandparent, telling Good Housekeeping how she likes to play games with them and "muck around".

The former airline hostess has said that she enjoys cooking, dancing and going on bike rides with all her grandchildren.

Katie Nicholls reported that the Middleton family keep the royals down to earth: "One of the things that allows William and Kate to be so ordinary is the presence of the Middletons in their lives.

"Carole is a regular through those golden gates at Kensington Palace, she whizzes through in her Land Rover. There is no security because everybody knows her."
