Hollyoaks John-Paul star James Sutton’s love life with stunning wife
Since joining the cast ofHollyoaks back in 2006, James Sutton has become known for his role as John Paul McQueen. Despite leaving the soap to star in Emmerdale in 2009, 40 year old James returned to Hollyoaks in 2012 where he has remained ever since.
During his time on the Channel 4 show, the actor has been at the centre of some important storylines, including male rape. What’s more, earlier this month it was revealed that James would be embarking on a new storyline regarding homophobia.
But away from our screens, James is married to Rachael Collin. According to theSunday Mirror, James and Rachael met while at Glastonbury Festival and the pair hit things off after James helped Rachael set up her camping area.
“I was watching this girl pumping up an air bed with a foot pump for about half an hour and I thought, ‘I’ve got an electric pump in my bag, I could be a hero here’,” he told the Sunday Mirror. “So I went over and said, ‘Excuse me, do you want to borrow my pump?’”.
At the time they first started dating, Rachael was a postgraduate student and transferred courses to be in Liverpool alongside her beau.
The pair became husband and wife in 2018 and the pair married at Glastonbury. Sharing a glimpse of their big day on social media, a now deleted Instagram post read “#CloudyWithAChanceOfSuttons”, hinting that the Great British weather wasn’t on their side.
The pair keep their relationship relatively private and not much is known about their time together. However, in 2017 James and Rachael completed the Valencia Marathon where they raised money for Teenage Cancer Trust and in 2019 they attended LIMFestival together.
Prior to his relationship with Rachael, Jameswas engaged to model Kit Williams though the pair split in 2017 after being engaged for two years.
Elsewhere in his personal life, James is a lot more open about his love for football and often shares snaps of himself cheering on Liverpool Football Club. In May 2022, the soap star headed to Paris to watch Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League Final.
James has also been open about his mental health and has previously spoken about experiencing anxiety. In a video to his followers he said: “I have been waking up and feeling anxious all day long, feeling, like, a sense of impending doom, like all of sudden everything’s going to go to s**t and my whole life’s gonna fall apart.”
In response, his followers have praised him for his openness, with one Instagram user saying that it was “so important to speak up”.
