Any longtime A’Ziah “Zola” King fan/follower knows that the *actual* Zola, the Pisces mother, writer, artist, sex worker, and the brains behind that viral Twitter madcap road trip story, is full of wisdom about loads of zeitgeisty things, from horniness to the rollercoaster ride of motherhood to manifesting your dreams. Recently, she tweeted a musing about the benefits of a slutty phase, so we reached out to the self-proclaimed inventor of the Twitter thread and asked her to expand on her thoughts so that you too can experience the joys of embracing your inner “hoe.”

My slutty phase was when I learned about myself sexually, intellectually, and spiritually. Without it, I wouldn’t be as sure of myself or as confident as I am today.

I tell people I’m a self-proclaimed hoe and I’m fine with that. It’s my way of letting them know I don’t give a shit about what they’re about to say. Just save it.

In my early twenties, after getting engaged at 19, I realized that it’s okay to date for fun. I had to unlearn this idea that I was dating to marry. That’s something I struggled with before but I think I’ve finally gotten it together. I don’t have to say, “I can’t be your girlfriend if I don’t see the rest of my life with you.” Like, ew, no. Why not? I can date you for this season and that’s okay. Whatever I’m meant to get out of this experience is what I’ll get.
