The at-home hack sees people make shaved ice by using nothing other than frozen fruit and a grater.

It's reported the idea first came to light thanks to "First Generation" cookbook author and creator Frankie Gaw – and people seem to be loving it.

And, the concept is simple, all you need to do is freeze your favourite fruit before transforming it into a super cool bowl of deliciousness.

You can make it with lots of different fruit – such as peaches, oranges, strawberries and watermelon.

Once frozen and ready to make, simply grab a fine grater, and shave the fruit straight into a bowl.

It's since been dubbed "shaved ice," and people are jazzing it up by adding treats such as sweetened condensed milk, whipped cream, toasted nuts, honey and more.

There are lots of things you could do to the ice to make an exciting summer dessert, but here are some ideas that are doing the rounds.

Frozen strawberry shaved ice

Alongside one video, Frankie said: "All you need is frozen strawberries and a grater."

It's since gained over 685,000 likes on Instagram, and people seem to be loving the creation.

"I topped mine with condensed milk, crushed peanuts and black sesame," he added.

Grated frozen orange shaved ice with pistachio

Following the success of the first video, Frankie went onto try out another idea.

The cook used frozen oranges to create a nostalgic summer ice cream flavour – orange creamsicle.

He wrote on Instagram: "I’m trying not to be the shaved ice guy but this was too good not to share.

"Make this orange creamsicle dream for this hot, hot summer."

Frozen pineapple shaved ice

Chef and recipe developer Jackie Bakula also shared a twist on the trend.

Who doesn't love a little pineapple during the summer?

All you need to make it is half a frozen pineapple grated, one teaspoon of sweetened condensed milk and some lime zest.

Once frozen you simply grate the pineapple into a bowl, drizzle with a little milk and pop some zest on top.
