While we don't know if Meghan actually read the book, we do know that Prince Harry proposed to Meghan after just 18 months.

The Rules, which was first published in 1995, is squarely aimed at women who "want marriage as quickly as possible".

So, what are the key pieces of advice The Rules tells women to live by.

Essentially woman are told to be "easy to be with but hard to get".

She didn't blab to the press, she wasn't all over him and she never made herself seem too available – all classic advice typical of The Rules, which was written in 1995 but remains ever relevant today.

Some of the rules may seem a little dated and not please everyone.

But the dating rules certainly worked for Meghan.

The authors told MailOnline: "Our book obviously made an impression on the actress because she embodies everything we say about being princess-like and feminine, classy and discreet and confident."
