Maria Fowler praised for sharing VERY honest look at pre-holiday shopping trip – including an H&M fail and Primark hit | The Sun

IT’S EASY to fall into the social media trap of wondering why influencers look so much better in everything compared to you.

The difficult part is seeing past this and understanding that hundreds of photos were taken to find the best shot to post online, representing a body or life that could be too far fetched.

But one woman, ex-TOWIE star Maria Fowler to be exact, has decided enough is enough.

She’s taken to her own social media to do a realistic fashion try on haul, explaining that she shows the “good, the bad and the ugly”.

The clip started with Maria, 36, dressed in nothing but a multi-coloured, patterned two-piece swimsuit.

Standing in the H&M dressing room, she told viewers: “This new in bikini did not hit the spot for me.”

Changing back into her underwear, she noted that H&M’s lighting has “improved so much”.

She then tried on a pair of black and white trousers “in 10, because they didn’t have a 12”, while noting the "camel-hoof" section.

Maria went on to show off a blue and white top, which she declared “a steal”, adding that it’s perfect with both shorts and jeans.

Wearing a black and white patterned dress next, she said it was “exclusively in store and it was so flattering”.

Moving onto Zara, Maria said she found a “nice pair of shorts” in a white colour that went perfectly with the top.

Her final stop was at Primark, where she tried on a selection of swimsuits, including a purple bikini, a black one and an orange one-piece, which she said made her “look like a square”.

And the red one she tried on next was “awful”, according to Maria.

“Primark really let me down on the swimsuits, but I found this!” she continued, showing off a mesh cover up that cost just £12.

“So it was worth coming into Primark afterall,” she added.

In the caption of the Instagram clip, she shared: “It’s here girls – Not your average fashion reel,” followed by a crying with laughter emoji.

“Come shopping with me, some of it’s not pretty I’m not going to lie. I find instagram full of influencers who I just can’t relate to, they look incredible in everything but no one who looks like me

“So I thought I’ll start making me own videos. The good. The bad and the ugly. Send me your new in recommendations and I’ll try them on for you (Preferably H&M – nothing designer and nothing over £40 expensive clothes is not how I roll, I have mouths to feed)”.

Maria added added: “Oh and I’ll link the nice bits in my story, I’m assuming no one wants to buy the swimming costumes so I won’t bother with them,” alongside a crying with laughter emoji.

People were quick to comment, praising her for being so honest about what it’s really like to try on clothes.

“Maria we need more of these… social media is cruel… I can't even try on in shops now I start picking myself a part… online shopping… society is ugly. Thanks for sharing xx,” one person said.

While a third added: “HERE. FOR. THIS!!!” followed by a clapping hands emoji.
