KING Charles is advertising for a very important job that pays £40,000 per year – do you think you have what it takes?

The monarch – a known environmentalist – is looking for someone to tend to the lush gardens at Buckingham Palace.


The opulent gardens cover an estimated 40 acres, and include a helicopter pad, a lake, and a tennis court where Björn Borg, John McEnroe and Steffi Graf have all played.

The job description states that the successful applicant could earn up to £40k per year with 39 hours of work expected per week.

And Charles is looking for someone who is "passionate about plants" to take on the role.

The advert reads: "As Gardens Manager, you’ll be responsible for the maintenance and presentation of the Buckingham Palace Garden and its surrounding areas to an exceptional standard.

"Leading a dedicated and talented team, you’ll use your skills and expertise to deliver all important lawn maintenance and the caring for shrub, herbaceous and rose borders.

"You’ll relish the challenge of ensuring our gardens are presented to the highest standards and take pride in watching thousands of people enjoying them each year at Garden parties."

The official ad describes the role as caring for "the gardens that thousands will admire", while working for the "world famous institution".

And listing states that the right applicant will be "instrumental in shaping the future of the Gardens".

It continues: "With a commitment to horticulture, you’ll be focused on delivering on our projects to conserve and enhance our gardens rich biodiversity.

"'If you're as passionate about plants as you are about people then this role will inspire you to deliver."

The People and Project Manager is responsible for the overall operation of the Gardens and head up a team.

It comes after news that the monarch was also seeking out an applicant for another important job which requires a particular skillset.

King Charles is hiring a pilot to fly him and other senior royals around in a helicopter.

The successful applicant will take control of two Sikorsky S76 C++ choppers as a pilot and plan trips for The Firm.

These US-made helicopters can soar to a whopping 15,000 feet – half the height of a passenger plane – and travel at 170mph.
