A DIY whizz has revealed the three mistakes people often make when it comes to home transformations.

Sharn, who has been renovating her home for two years has picked up a couple of tricks along the way and decided to share them with others so they didn't have to go through the same mistakes she did.

In the TikTok clip, she said: "People make these DIY mistakes all the time so I am here to call them out.

"I've been renovating my home for over two years now and have learnt all the tricks you need to know."

She first recommended peeling off any painter's tape before the paint dries for clean lines.

The DIY expert explained: "If the paint dries onto the tape you're just going to peel it off when you peel the tape off, and it just absolutely defeats the point."

Sharn also revealed that you need to stop using paint rollers with tiny handles.

A long pole with a 12-inch roller sleeve will make painting your walls and ceilings much easier and quicker.

She added: "You can cover so much more wall at once, it will save you so much time.

"The pole means you're not bending down as much or you're not up ladders giving yourself neckache trying to paint the ceiling."

Lastly, Sharn revealed that it was a total lie that you had to paint skirting boards a different colour to your walls.

The DIY whizz said: "I love a bit of colour drenching because you do not have to get that perfect line between your wall and skirting colour.

For those wanting to do it, check your paint is suitable for wood or has an eggshell finish.

The video posted to her account @sharnshouse has gone viral with 290k views and over 14k likes.
