I Just Did the Seemingly Impossible: I Found the Perfect Pair of Black Heels

Some things I've officially written off as impossible, like whistling, walking on water, or marrying my childhood crush (hey, Ryan Gosling!). That said, one thing that I had written off as an impossible fashion feat actually became a reality last week, and I'm here to tell the world about it.

M.Gemi's Marlena Heel is the black pump of your dreams. I didn't even know what I was missing out on until I had the chance to try them, and now I'm completely convinced that these are the best black heels on the market. My only regret is that I didn't know about them earlier!

Comfort straight out of the box is always a good sign when I test out new shoes, but that isn't how trying on a fresh pair of heels typically works for me. I usually have to wear them in since most are too tight and make my feet feel locked in. But with these M.Gemi's pumps, I had no woes from the second I put them on. It was love at first try-on.

The buttery soft leather molded to my foot perfectly; there was no feeling of constriction or that too-tight-I-can't-budge sensation that I tend to experience with other leather heels. And before you ask — yes, the Marlena still felt very secure on my foot. I ordered a 38.5 (a U.S. size 8) and they fit great. They are, in fact, true to size.

Aside from the comfort factor — a test it passed with flying colors for both laps around my NYC apartment and a recent dinner date with friends that involved lots of walking —  I was utterly in love with the shoe's design. It's trendy yet classic, a mix you don't always find in heels, but one M.Gemi has mastered. The square-toe front! The 2-inch sculpted heel (also available in a 3.5-inch style)! The gorgeous leather! It doesn't get more jaw-droppingly gorgeous than the Marlena.

It's really no wonder why M.Gemi's shoes rack up thousands-long waitlists and sell out at record speeds — they're so darn good. And after testing out the Marlena and deciding it's the perfect black heel, I'm ready to invest in more styles from the Italian shoe brand.

Don't let that price tag scare you either. I have a strong feeling these will be in my closet for at least a decade and will be getting lots of use in that time, which brings their cost per wear down to mere pennies.
