An ABBA-themed restaurant is coming to the UK and we can’t wait to singalong

The O2 will host Mamma Mia! The Party, following sell-out shows in Stockholm after opening in 2016.

The experience is the brainchild of Björn Ulvaeus – one of the original members of the band.

He describes it as an “immersive theatrical dining experience”.

Björn said: "We have long admired The O2 and the huge entertainment success it has become under the ownership and management of AEG.

"We believe bringing Mamma Mia! The Party to The O2 will add to this already vibrant cultural destination and provide the perfect location for our exciting new show."

Fans of the films will be transported to the island of Skopelos, where the two films are based.

The show’s website says: "Spend a magical summer evening with friends in a special Greek island taverna, where the host’s only rules are dance, dine and have the time of your lives!

“Meet taverna owner Nikos and his family as their story unfolds in a glorious night of song, dance and celebration.

“Featuring your favourite ABBA songs performed by actors and musicians all around you, soak up the island atmosphere and feast on mouth-watering Mediterranean food & drink.”

The taverna will be housed inside a specially adapted venue at the O2 and be able to host up to 500 people.

And it will look the part too, with long tables, a courtyard, olive trees and a fountain.

The restaurant opens its doors next spring, but tickets go on sale this autumn.

John Langford, Vice President and General Manager of The O2, added: "To be hosting the Mamma Mia! The Party experience at The O2 is a real honour.

“It perfectly complements the outstanding live performances, events and the dynamic variety of entertainment all available under our world-famous roof."
