A Britney Spears musical called Once Upon A One More Time is coming and fans can't cope

CHILDREN of the 90s, it's time to tie your shirt up and start singing into your hairbrush because a Britney Spears musical is set to hit the stage with the very apt name Once Upon A One More Time.

The story is based around a book club attended by Cinderella, Snow White, and the other fairytale princesses, using the pop Princess’s greatest hits as the soundtrack.

A Britney-eqsue godmother introduces the Feminine Mystique to the group spurring a royal revelation.

The pop princess herself has described the new show as a ‘dream come true’ following the announcement earlier this week.

Unsurprisingly the news has proven very exciting for fans, who took to Twitter to share their enthusiasm.

One wrote: "Was anyone going to tell me that someone is writing a @britneyspears musical or was I just supposed to fiND OUT FOR MYSELF (sic)."

Agreeing another added: "Oh ur kidding me. A Britney Spears musical “Once upon a one more time” yes, yes, yes."

While a third tweeted: "There’s a musical coming out that’s fairytale characters living through Britney Spears songs and my 11 year old self is losing her damn mind right now."

Speaking to the Guardian she said: “I’m so excited to have a musical with my songs – especially one that takes place in such a magical world filled with characters that I grew up on, who I love and adore.

“This is a dream come true for me!”

The musical features an original book by Jon Hartmere (The Upside, bare), with direction by Tony Award nominee Kristin Hanggi (Rock of Ages) and Choreography by MTV Video Music Award nominees Keone & Mari Madrid (Justin Bieber’s "Love Yourself”; “World of Dance”).

Sadly for British Britney fans the show is currently scheduled to run from October at the James M. Nederlander Theatre in Chicago, before heading to Broadway.

It has been a tricky start to the year for the singer who was forced to put her highly-anticipated 10th studio album 'on hold' while she supports her father's recovery from a near fatal health scare.

The announcement came just a few days after the iconic entertainer told fans she was postponing the launch of her second Las Vegas residency show.

The chart-topping singer, 37, had been working on the new album with top songwriters including Justin Tranter, who has recently worked with Gwen Stefani and Lady Gaga.

Britney's manager told US publication Variety: "Everything is on hold right now until Jamie is better.

"But once he is, she will resume working on the album with Justin. Right now, she's taking some time off to deal with these family issues."

In a statement, a spokesperson for the star explained that Britney's beloved father, Jamie Spears, was rushed to Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas two months ago after his colon spontaneously ruptured.

Jamie was immediately taken into surgery, spending the next 28 days in hospital – which the family credit with saving his life.
