From one generation to another, Tommy Lee is teaching his millennial fianceé Brittany Furlan to disconnect.
“I never realized how much I was on my phone,” she said during a panel discussion following the Tribeca Film Festival premiere of “The American Meme” on Friday night. “It’s kind of crazy when you date someone who doesn’t really like being on their phone.”
Furlan, 32, who found her fame on the now-defunct social media platform Vine, told the audience at Spring Studios that she couldn’t understand how her husband-to-be is detached from his phone.
“I’m like, ‘I cant process how you don’t even look at your phone,’ he’s like ‘I don’t even care,’ she said the 55-year-old Motley Crew rocker.
The film, directed by Bert Marcus which features Furlan along with Paris Hilton and social media personality Fat Jewish, follows the ups and downs of a fixture with millions of followers.
Naturally, Furlan took to Instagram to announce their engagement in February, but said Lee is showing her the importance of decreasing her screen time.
“He’s teaching me,” she said of Lee, adding, “that’s been the biggest thing in our relationship, the difference with me being like, ‘Oh I gotta check my likes and check my posts’ and he’s like, ‘Why? Why does it matter? Be present.’”
Lee was previously married to Pamela Anderson who in March slammed him as “the definition of narcissist/sociopath … a disaster spinning out of control” after he said he would press charges against his and Anderson’s 21-year-old son, Brandon Thomas Lee, after a physical fight between the two left Lee with a fat lip.
