This Marvel Fan Just Explained All of the Easter Eggs in the New WandaVision<\/em> Trailer

Marvel Studios’ WandaVision is the first of its new slate of small-screen programming to come to Disney+, and after nearly two years, fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe can hardly wait. Disney has been amping up anticipation for the show over the last week or so, releasing trailers and clips with glimpses of new footage.

In a new YouTube video, Michael Roman from the Everything Always channel identifies some moments in the latest teaser that could serve as foreshadowing for what fans can expect from the new series—and beyond.

S.W.O.R.D.

WandaVision is set in a seemingly perfect suburban town, but as even the most casual TV viewer will be able to tell you, suburbia always has something strange going on just beneath the surface. In the new clip, a man can be seen emerging from a manhole in the middle of the street outside Wanda and Vision’s house, wearing what looks like a beekeeping costume.

While his face is obscured, the back of his clothing bears something remarkably close to the S.W.O.R.D. logo. S.W.O.R.D. is, of course, the spacefaring equivalent of S.H.I.E.L.D., and an organisation that is heralded to play a much bigger role in Phase Four of the MCU.

Sam Raimi

In the background of a shot from the new trailer, you can clearly see a movie marquee for Oz the Great and Powerful, which of course was the Wizard of Oz prequel which starred former Spider-Man actor James Franco and was directed by Sam Raimi. Raimi helmed the Tobey Maguire Spider-Man trilogy, and will be returning to Marvel with the upcoming Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, a movie which is expected to tie together the events of WandaVision and the next Spider-Man film.

Nightmare

Throughout the last few teaser clips for WandaVision released by Marvel and Disney, a voice can be heard through static trying to reach Wanda, suggesting that she is not in another dimension or reality, but in fact in some kind of coma or enforced sleep. If this is the case, Roman speculates that WandaVision could be setting up Nightmare, an adversary of Doctor Strange in the comics, as the big villain of the Multiverse of Madness movie.
