'The Vampire Diaries': Joseph Morgan and His Wife Made an Apocalyptic Short Film on Set

The Vampire Diaries had a handful of off-screen romances among the cast. One of those couples was Joseph Morgan and Persia White. Morgan played Klaus Mikaelson in The Vampire Diaries and The Originals. And White played Abby Bennett, Bonnie Bennett’s mother, in The Vampire Diaries Season 3. And during their time on set, the couple collaborated a short film all about the end of the world. Fitting.

How did Joseph Morgan and Persia White meet?

Morgan and white have been married for seven years now. And while Morgan is a bonafide CW star, his wife was one first. White was one of the stars of Girlfriends on The CW from 2000 to 2008.

Morgan was a recurring guest star on The Vampire Diaries in season 2. He was the main villain of season 3 when White came along. And he told the Associated Press their 2012 meeting was refreshingly simple. He said:

We didn’t know each other before The Vampire Diaries, but we didn’t meet on set. We met in the lobby area where they bring everyone in and they send people off to hair and makeup and set and different things. And we just got talking there and that little chat lasted about two hours. And I thought, ‘Well, I definitely want to see her again.’ And it grew from there. And then we rarely spent any time apart since that point when we met.

They got engaged in May 2014 and married in July 2014.

Have Joseph Morgan and Persia White worked together?

During the relationship, the couple has collaborated frequently. Currently, they run the Morgan White Store, which features The Originals-inspired merchandise. Morgan told AP his love would frequently visit the set of The Originals and help him prepare for scenes.

“She’s a huge part of the show, for me, because she watches every show, we talk about it,” he said. “She tests me on every scene. She’s incredibly supportive. She’s there running lines with me late at night.”

The Ben-Hur alum also revealed in a video for Entertainment Weekly that while on set of The Vampire Diaries, he and White collaborated on an apocalyptic short film called Revelation.

Joseph Morgan and Persia White’s ‘Revelation’ had ties to ‘The Walking Dead’ and ‘The Vampire Diaries’

One of the props from that film, a plastic machete, is one of the things he lists as his favorite pieces of pop culture. And it has ties to another show all about supernatural beings.

“It’s from a short film that I made with my wife called Revelation. And we filmed it in the woods where they filmed The Vampire Diaries—where we were filming The Vampire Diaries. And basically, when you make a short film, everything has to be on a budget. So, the cool thing about this is the guy who was making props for us was also working on The Walking Dead. And one of the characters on The Walking Dead had a machete like this … This was our weapon of choice in our film.”

You can check out Revelation in the link above. As it’s described on IMDb:

“A woman trapped alone in a post-apocalyptic situation questions her reality. As she secures her house against the unknown terror outside, she reflects upon the darkness that took her husband and changed the world as she knew it. But she is not alone. After barely surviving a brutal encounter that pushes her to her limits, both physically and emotionally, she is forced to leave the safety of her home and is propelled towards a staggering conclusion that will change her forever.”

A pretty fitting tale for two actors from The Vampire Diaries, no?
