The Royal Family Paid Tribute to Prince Philip and King George VI on Instagram for Father’s Day

The royal family is honoring the memory of its late patriarchs, Prince Philip and King George VI.

On Sunday, the Palace shared a touching tribute to Queen Elizabeth II’s late husband, Prince Philip, who passed away in April, and her father, King George VI, whose unexpected death in 1952 marked the beginning of her time as the monarch.

Buckingham Palace shared a black and white photo of the Queen in Balmoral, posing with three of the most important men in her life—the Duke of Edinburgh, her late father, and her oldest son, Prince Charles.

“To all dads everywhere, we wish you a very special Father’s Day,” the Palace wrote in the post’s caption. “To mark #FathersDay we are sharing this photograph of The Queen with her father, King George VI, and Prince Philip watching a young Prince Charles sitting on a statue at Balmoral in 1951.”

Other members of the royal family marked Father’s Day on Instagram, as well. Prince Charles posted his own tribute to Prince Philip, along with a message of support to any other’s missing their own fathers on the holiday.

“To all Papas everywhere, and to those who may be missing their Dads today, we are thinking of you and wishing you a special #FathersDay,” Clarence House captioned the post.

On a lighter note, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge shared an animated video clip that included pictures of Prince William with their three children—Prince George, 7, Princess Charlotte, 6, and Prince Louis, 3—as well as photos of Prince Charles, Prince Philip, and the duchess’ father, Michael Middleton.
