Simon Cowell is planning to team up with Hollywood star Rebel Wilson – as the X Factor boss turns his attentions to plans to making movies in the future.
The music mogul was spotted having meetings with Rebel in Los Angeles recently and sources close to the star say they are talking about future projects together – and possibly a big new movie with Rebel the star attraction.
A source said: “Cowell is already a huge hit on TV here and in America, but he has his eyes on other big projects, including movies.
He recognises Rebel’s talent and has made it clear he wants to work with her. It is a very exciting potential collaboration.”
Cowell, 58, has been involved in films before but only spin offs of his own shows like One Of Us, a One Direction documentary and Pudsey The Movie, about the BGT winning dog.
He sees Wilson as someone who could give him a big Hollywood hit and would then look to make more movies in the future.
Rebel, 38, has starred in hit films including Pitch Perfect and Bridesmaids.
After graduating from the Australian Theatre for Young People in 2003 she worked on TV Down Under before heading to American at the end of 2010 and has since enjoyed an incredible rise in popularity in comedy films including 2016 movie Grimsby alongside Sacha Boron Cohen.
She has just joined Jojo Rabbit, a new World War 2 satire he wrote about a 10-year old boy who struggles to find his place in an increasingly Fascist regime and turns to an imaginary friend when faced with the discovery that his mother is hiding a Jewish girl in their home.
Wilson joins Scarlett Johansson and Sam Rockwell in a film that gets underway shortly in Prague.
Wilson will play Fraulein Rahm, a brutish instructor in the Hitler Youth Camp the young man has just been recruited to attend.
She is among the lessons she teaches the children is that Jews are the embodiment of mythical creatures.
Cowell is also currently putting together the new X Factor judging line up.
He has lined up Robbie Williams and wife Ayda Field whilst Louis Walsh has been axed from the panel.
