Selena Gomez's Met Dress Is A Very Fancy Nightgown

Selena Gomez’s sheer dress for the Met Gala, designed by Stuart Vevers for Coach, is reminiscent of a negligee, crafted out of vintage cream silk gauze. The diaphanous, opera-length gown is certainly “Heavenly Bodies”-worthy and looked straight out of “Angels in America.” Coach Creative Director Vevers, “played with unexpected juxtapositions and personalization to create a toughness mixed with a dark, romantic femininity,” according to the brand.

The ethereal gown is accented by hand-sewn lace and detailed with hand-pleated frills with metal studs and crystal embellishment.

The look is paired with gunmetal heels and a cream Kisslock Frame bag, both also by Coach. In a personal twist, a quote in the singer’s own handwriting is embossed on the side of the bag as well as on a ribbon on her gown.

Gomez wore her hair in a loose updo in keeping with the light-as-air look, with glowing skin, a super pale lip and gilded eye makeup. She paired the dress with a diamond cross necklace—a natural choice for the Catholic pop star—and diamond drop earrings.
