Phylicia Rashad’s new project, “David Makes Man,” follows a 14-year-old who’s forced to become a stand-up guy very fast.
While promoting the show, the actress told us her own model of a good man is her father. After her parents divorced when she was a child, Rashad told Page Six that her dad’s new wife wanted him to move away from their hometown of Houston.
“Atlanta was a different scene from Houston — much more fun, I imagined,” she told us. “He said, ‘I will never leave my children.’ He was always there for us, even as adults my father would travel to New York to watch me [onstage].”
The coming-of-age drama, starring Rashad, premieres Wednesday on the OWN channel.
