Mourinho confirms five Man United stars set to start vs Watford

Jose Mourinho has revealed five Manchester United players who will start vs Watford in the final Premier League game of the season.

The Red Devils failed to break down a stubborn West Ham side on Thursday evening, but it was enough to secure second place in the table.

Mourinho then revealed team news for Sunday, with one eye on the FA Cup final vs Chelsea the following week, with the positive news that Romelu Lukaku will return from injury and Michael Carrick will captain the side in his final game at Old Trafford before retirement.

“Romelu plays on Sunday because he deserves that and some other players are going to play because we as a team achieve the second position and we as a team are going to play the FA Cup final,” Mourinho said.

“It is normal that Michael Carrick is captain at Old Trafford for the last game of his career. David De Gea will be rested, so it gives a chance for Sergio Romero to play. I can make changes.

“Marcus and Anthony played against Brighton. Today it was for Alexis and [Jesse] Lingard to play and Sunday is again for Martial and Rashford.”

Sunday’s game could be a final chance for Martial to convince Mourinho he is worthy of staying at Old Trafford with reports of a summer departure to Chelsea, Borussia Dortmund or Inter Milan.
