Mariah Carey’s ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’ Finally Hits No. 1 On U.K. Singles Chart

Twenty-six years after its release, Mariah Carey‘s iconic festive hit “All I Want For Christmas Is You” finally reached No. 1 on the Official U.K. Singles Chart.

The song hit the top after spending 70 weeks in the U.K. Top 40, which is a new chart record in the process, the Official Charts Company said.

Responding to the news on Twitter, Carey wrote, “Jumping up and down in front of the Christmas tree with the kids and the dogs. Blasting ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’, and sending virtual hugs to everyone across the pond who helped make it happen! Love you so much!”

The track climbed one place this week after being streamed 10.8 million times.

Upon its original release in 1994, “All I Want For Christmas Is You” peaked at No. 2, just missing out on the Christmas Number 1 position that year to East 17‘s “Stay Another Day.”
