Kelly Clarkson covered The Cardigan‘s “Lovefool” for the “Kellyoke” segment on her talk show, “The Kelly Clarkson Show” on Tuesday, February 9.
“Love me, love me/ Say that you love me/ Fool me, fool me/ Go on and fool me/ Love me, love me/ Pretend that you love me/ Leave me, leave me/ Just say that you need me,” Clarkson and her background singers croon.
“Lovefool” was written by Peter Svensson and Nina Persson for the Swedish rock band’s third studio album, First Band on the Moon.
The song peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 Airplay Chart. “Lovefool” was featured in the film Romeo + Juliet just two months after the release of the single, as well as in the 1999 film Cruel Intentions and the 2007 comedy Virgin Territory.
