Edward Grimes has admitted he feels "emotional" after being discharged from hospital following a life-saving operation to removed his appendix.

The 29-year-old has been keeping his fans up to date since he was rushed to hospital last week after being left in "excruciating pain" due to the "threatening and scary" situation.

One half of singing duo Jedward, the younger twin was initially "disappointed" he was not able to watch the Eurovision Song Contest with his brother, John, at the weekend, but then admitted he felt sad to be leaving the hospital.

He took to the Irish duo's Instagram to inform their 208,000 followers he would be returning home on Sunday, detailing the "insane" trip.

Sharing an image of himself in his hospital bed, Edward wrote: "The most insane hospital trip of my life…

"Had the kindest caring soul next to me, met someone else who I could marry someday, had such an eventful time like it's gonna be a chapter in a book someday or just in my thoughts.

"But I've experienced so much emotions in the last 48hrs. The warmest kindest energy."

He continued: "Never been this vulnerable and just overcoming it all I feel this new energy from within me.

"The pain and laughs all mixed into hilarious chats and bonds with wonderful memories that should be tragic but made me grow.

"I feel like I've been on a wild dream and I'm happy u all enjoyed the trip too but u can only share so much on Instagram."

As he left his ward for the final time, the former X Factor star was heard tearfully saying: "I'm gonna miss these hallways I used to walk up trying to get exercise and get my bladder going.

"I'm gonna miss you so much," he continued, writing over the video: "Sorry for the dramatics but I'm Emotional AF."

Edward announced details of the operation last week, telling fans: "Just had immediate surgery to remove my appendix.

"It was a life threatening and scary situation but I'm grateful the emergency team have operated on me and stopped the agony. I'm healing and on the road to recovery!"

He then urged fans to take severe pain in the abdominal area seriously, adding: "I've never experienced excruciating pain like this and knew something wasn't right.

"Blood tests and CT scans indicated I needed surgery. I'm grateful it was caught in time just knowing the feeling that your body and appendix can lead to you poisoning yourself is insane."
