Jacqueline Jossa has praised her I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! pal Kate Garraway following her husband Derek Draper’s health battle.

Jacqueline, 28, and Good Morning Britain star Kate, 53, formed a close bond as they met in the jungle in 2019.

A few months later, Kate’s life went into turmoil as her husband was hospitalised and later placed into a coma after being diagnosed with coronavirus.

Derek, 53, was in intensive care for more than year as he became the UK’s longest surviving coronavirus in-patient.

Kate’s husband was recently able to return to the family home and is still receiving around-the-clock care after Kate opened up on Derek’s health battle, confessing he even planned his own funeral.

Now Jacqueline, who recently defended Charlotte Crosby after her appearance was criticised in a “disgusting” Channel 5 show, has shared her praise for Kate, who has been grappling with the “horrible” situation for more than a year.

Speaking in a candid interview, Jacqueline said: “It's just so horrible. Kate is the most loveliest human being you will ever meet in your life. No-one deserves that, and obviously Derek is super lovely as well.”

Jacqueline, who recently revealed she’s not planning on having more children, met Derek while the pair competed on I’m A Celeb in Australia in 2019, when Derek and the couple’s children Darcey, 15, and Billy, 11, flew out to support the TV journalist.

Jacqueline added the The Mirror how “surreal” it felt as Derek’s health battle happened a matter of months after they left the jungle.

She explained: “It’s kind of surreal because I felt like we had just left them.

“It was a weird thing, but she was incredible and I find her really inspiring because she just really kept on going.

“I truly believe her positive vibes and positive thinking really really helped their situation. I don’t know how she held it together. She’s amazing.“

Jacqueline reached out to Kate to offer her support, and said that she got an understanding of how close the family were.

She explained: “Obviously she’s super super busy but I’ve sent my love and said we miss each other and I’m just hoping life resumes and we can catch up.”

The former EastEnders star said that while the blonde beauty was in the jungle “all Kate did was talk about Derek”.

Speaking of their time in the jungle, Jacqueline said: “I did meet Derek and their kids and they are an absolutely lovely family. It’s weird because all Kate did was talk about Derek, so I had a vision of what he was like. She literally would cry every time that she spoke about him, she just loved him so much. It was so nice.

“She’s so strong though. She’s just been dealing with it how she feels appropriate and she’s got kids to keep strong for.”
