Ja Morant to Miss Four More Games Despite Being Cleared of Criminal Charges Over Gun-Waving Video

The Memphis Grizzlies star was initially suspended two games by the team after going on Instagram Live and flashing a gun while he was at a strip club in Colorado.

AceShowbiz –Ja Morant won’t be back with the Memphis Grizzlies for at least another week. The Grizzlies has announced that the NBA player will miss four more games despite he’s recently cleared of criminal charges over his gun-waving video.

The Grizzlies announced on Wednesday, March 8 that the 23-year-old basketballer “will continue to remain away from the team for at least the next four games.” He was initially suspended two games by the team after going on Instagram Live early Saturday morning and flashing a gun while he was at a strip club Shotgun Willies in Colorado.

The Glendale (Co.) Police investigated the incident but announced earlier Wednesday that “there was not enough available evidence to charge anyone with a crime.” Law enforcement confirmed the incident took place during “lawful operating hours.”

“GPD was not able to determine that probable cause existed for the filing of any charges,” the department said in a release. “In this case, it should be noted that on the night in question the GPD did not receive any calls for service at the nightclub regarding a weapon of any type.”

“Subsequently, no disturbances were reported, and no citizens or patrons of the club came forward to make a complaint,” the release continued. “The investigation also concluded that no one was threatened or menaced with the firearm and in fact no firearm was ever located.”

In his statement, Morant stressed that he’ll “take full responsibility for [his] actions.” The star guard went on adding, “I’m sorry to my family, teammates, coaches, fans, partners, the city of Memphis and the entire Grizzlies organization for letting you down. I’m going to take some time away to get help and work on learning better methods of dealing with stress and my overall well-being.”

Meanwhile, the Grizzlies coach Taylor Jenkins said that there was “no definitive timeline” for Morant’s return to the team. Though so, Jenkins noted Morant understands he’s made “some difficult decisions and poor choices in the past.”

“He’s definitely embracing the mistakes that he’s made, but only time will tell. We’re going to support him and we’re going to hold him accountable to make those changes,” Jenkins told AP. “We love him, we want what’s best for him, we support him. It’s going to be a difficult process but we’ve got a great group to get through this.”
