Olivia and Alex Bowen are super excited for the arrival of their first child, due next month.
And to celebrate Liv’s pregnancy, the Love Island couple threw a gorgeous safari-themed baby shower at their home, which was complete with life-sized animals, including a giant giraffe and zebra, a three-course meal and special cocktails (for everyone but Liv).
Speaking to us after the event, exclusively covered by OK!, Olivia told us: “It was just so overwhelming to have all of our friends and family in the same place celebrating little Baby Bowen was so heartwarming! Everyone had the best time, we ate loads, danced, laughed and played a few classic baby shower games. I was so tired by the end of it and everyone else was very drunk!”
Here the star talks us through her baby shower and pregnancy as we share our exclusive images from the luxury event…
"I got all glammed up and dressed for around midday for people to arrive. Everyone arrived thick and fast – it was super overwhelming. We sent the lads off to the pub and us ladies had our 3 course meal. The boys came home 5ish and thats when the party started! I can’t believe I lasted until 9pm 36 weeks pregnant – I’m pretty impressed with my dance moves and stamina!"
"Tina [Stinnes] came, who Alex and I were best friends with in Love Island. She was also my bridesmaid and it just meant so much to have her there too – she was there where it all began!"
"My step-dad Nick did a really cute speech which I already started crying at before he spoke, clearly the pregnancy hormones kicking in! I kept getting emotional just watching everyone together. I felt so grateful for having so many amazing friends & family support us." [with mum Sarah]
"Etiquette Styling really went all out with a huge table set out with pampas and gold accents, a bar, a safari theme cake, we had a three-course meal and even had Alex on the decks in the evening. "
"I had my favourite chef Jon Watts create us a three-course menu with halloumi starter, greek lamb kebabs cooked on our BBQ & then a passionfruit cheesecake to finish! We also had a beautiful lemon, raspberry & white chocolate cake!"
"The theme was safari – just like our nursery!"
"For some reason I’ve become obsessed with giraffes. We had a huge life size giraffe and zebra at the entrance to the tipi, our amazing event planner Etiquette Styling surprised me with them. They turned up in a van & I was so shocked!"
"I had 10 bottles of Minuty wine for the girls (it’s their fave) and some amazing cocktails from Hunter & Grey."
"We played pin the dummy on the baby, guess the beer belly or baby bump. We also had some little guessing game sheets where everyone could fill in their thoughts on what the baby might be, how much they might weigh and their hair & eye colour! It was so cute to look back on at the end of the evening."
"We had two special cocktails, a pink lychee martini for a girl, and a blue lagoon for a boy – created & served by The Drunken Mare bar! It was a boozy baby shower for everyone but me!"
"The actual set up of the tipi & decor started three days before, they had so much to set up & wanted to make it perfect!"
"Alex keeps saying ‘Can you come out now?’ to my belly every night! I’m definitely feeling mega pregnant now, I get tired so quickly & even have a waddle going on!"
