Although spring is getting closer, the cold winter weather is leaving many Brits wanting a bit of sunshine!

However when you’ve got kids, you can’t exactly just drop everything and escape for winter sun – you want to make sure it falls during the school holiday dates or you could face some pretty hefty fines .

Chances are at this points parents have plenty of annual leave days to play around with, and you’re spoiled for choice with all of the upcoming school holidays whether you’re looking to escape for Easter or after a bank holiday minibreak.

To give you a helping hand, we take a look at all of the dates you need to bookmark in your diary for 2018 from UK school holidays to bank holiday weekends…

When is the next bank holiday?

The next UK bank holiday will be on Monday 7th May for the May bank holiday .

SCHOOL HOLIDAYS IN 2018

Please note that some schools have slightly different dates so it’s always worth double checking with your child’s school or your local county.

May half term: Monday 28th May – Friday 1st June. Back to school on Monday 4th June.

Summer holidays: Usually schools end either the 24th/25th July until Monday 3rd September.

October half term: Monday 26th October – Friday 30th October

Christmas holidays: 21st December – 9th January. (This may slightly vary depending on your school).

2018 BANK HOLIDAY DATES

May Bank holiday: 7th May

Spring Bank Holiday: 28th May

August Bank Holiday: 27th August

Christmas Day: 25th December

Boxing Day: 26th December
