Four Weddings And A Funeral sequel drops first trailer showcasing ageless cast

The hotly anticipated sequel to Four Weddings And A Funeral has finally dropped a trailer featuring the original cast looking ageless and graceful.

The cast of the 1994 original romantic comedy are back together for a Comic Relief special – titled One Red Nose Day And A Wedding.

Similar in the way that Love Actually was given a sequel called Red Nose Day, Actually, the new short brings the original stars back together for a short film that will debut on Comic Relief on 15 March.

The short marks 25 years since the original film was released and features everyone from Hugh Grant as Charles, to And MacDowell as Carrie, to Kristin Scott Thomas as Fiona, and Rowan Atkinson as Father Gerald.

Indeed, the trailer features the stars in something of a roll call as they face the camera and state their names – which is a helpful reminder of who is playing who.

Hugh (as Charles) then announces that they are inviting the viewer to attend a wedding – which is what the short film will focus on.

One Red Nose Day And A Wedding was filming in London in December with the cast getting into character at a church in Islington.

The short is due to last 12 minutes and the individuals tying the knot are being kept a closely guarded secret as it is supposed to be something of a twist.

The miniature sequel was filmed in just two days – meaning the planets effectively must have aligned to have everyone’s schedules cleared and the whole cast being avalable.

Richard Curtis himself was seen on set giving Rowan Arkinson a pep talk – as behind-the-scenes photos prove.

A true happy vibe can be seen as practically all the cast and crew look beyond ecstatic to be reunited on the project.

While original film director Mike Newell looked in good spirits as he took the helm of the project – taking charge of the A List cast.

Full details of the plot are being kept a tightly guarded secret – except the fact a wedding will take place.

The cast have also promised some "very special guests" – hinting that even more famous faces could be involved in the short film.

Red Nose Day director Emma Freud – who has been with the film’s director Richard Curtis for over 30 years – already let slip that Good Morning Britain host Susanna Reid might be involved.

Four Weddings fans can also look forward to a TV spin-off based on the classic film – which is currently filming in the UK and is expected to air on US streaming channel Hulu.

The series is written by American comedian Mindy Kaling and features original film cast member Andi MacDowell in a new role as Mrs Howard.
