Jose Mourinho says Sir Alex Ferguson’s family are confident the former Manchester United boss will make a full recovery from brain surgery.
Ferguson remains in intensive care in Salford Royal Hospital after suffering a brain haemorrhage at his home last Saturday.
And United boss Mourinho said from his understanding, the prognosis is that Ferguson will make a full recovery.
“It’s private,” said Mourinho. “His family asked for privacy and that’s what I am going to respect.
“They are positive, they are very positive. We are confident.”
Asked if Ferguson’s plight had cast a shadow over United’s preparations for the remainder of the season, Mourinho said:“I can only think that if there is any relation, there is a positive relation.”
The footballing community has been sending their support to Ferguson all week since news emerged of his brain haemorrhage.
Among them former Red Devils star Cristiano Ronaldo called the Scot a "dear friend", while current United defender Phil Jones referred to him as "like a father".
