Ed Sheeran soars as UK musicians’ rich list revealed – see the top 10

Ed Sheeran’s wealth grew by £28million last year, more than any other musician in the UK and Ireland.

The singer-songwriter, 27, has an overall net wealth of £80million, according to latest The Sunday Times Rich List.

While the Perfect singer is 35th on the overall list of the most moneyed musicians in the British Isles, he is the second-richest young musician after Adele, worth £140million.

Sir Paul McCartney, 75, tops the list, and is the wealthiest musician in its history. Sir Paul and his wife, heiress Nancy Shevell, 58, together are worth £820million.


The singer’s £40million rise in net wealth is split equally between revenue from The Beatles’ songs and income from his 37-date tour.

Composer Andrew Lloyd Webber, 70, is second on the list, with £740million, followed by U2, with £569million.

Sir Elton John, 71, who recently announced a three-year tour, is in fourth place with £300million. The Rolling Stones are up a collective £40million.

Former Take That star Robbie Williams, 44, also enjoyed a big boost from touring, adding £15million to net wealth, bringing his total to £165million.

And Rita Ora, 27, is 11th on the list of wealthiest young musicians, despite only ever releasing one album.

The actress and Anywhere singer, worth £16million, has enjoyed lucrative deals with high-profile brands such as adidas and DKNY.

One Direction singer-turned-actor Harry Styles, 24, is up £10million to £50million.

Niall Horan, 24, made another £6million bringing him to £46million, while Liam Payne, 24, and Louis Tomlinson, 26, each made another £2million, now both worth £42million.

Their former bandmate, Zayn Malik, 25, who did not increase his wealth, has £35million.
