Arsenal fans furious as ‘Henry snubs Wenger’s Emirates farewell’

Arsenal fans are accusing Gunners legend Thierry Henry of snubbing Arsene Wenger’s Emirates farewell to watch Manchester City play.

The former France international is a Sky Sports pundit, and was required to be at the Etihad to watch the Premier League champions lift the trophy.

But that hasn’t stopped Gunners supporters from hitting out in disappointment at the fact that the club’s best player of the Wenger era is not present on his final day managing in north London.

A list of legends who played more than 100 games under Wenger – the likes of Emmanuel Petit and Martin Keown – have been invited to take part in a post-match celebration at the Emirates.

There will also be a mention for Per Mertesacker, Alex Scott and kit man Vic Akers who is retiring, while a T-shirt with the words "Merci Arsene" was left on all 60,000 seats at the Emirates.

Ahead of the game, Wenger said: "Personally, I expect today will be dominated by sadness. It’s the end of a long story for me at Arsenal.

"But I will also feel grateful for having led this club – that I cherish so much – for such a long time."

It’s all very emotional, and therefore understandable that Arsenal fans are upset that Henry isn’t in attendance – at least not at the moment.

And as we say, they’re making their feelings known on social media.
