Ariana Grande and Pete’s relationship ‘got complicated’ after Mac Miller’s death

The tragic death of Ariana Grande ‘s ex-boyfriend Mac Miller could have played a part in her split from fiancé Pete Davidson.

The couple called off their engagement less than two months after Mac was found dead from an apparent overdose.

And while it was reported at the time that Pete was supporting her through the tragedy, it’s suggested that the rapper’s death was a big turning point in their relationship.

A source told Us Weekly : "He’s sad. He’s really sad about this split, and he only wishes the best for Ariana, but their relationship was really complicated with the passing of Mac Miller. It put a tremendous amount of strain on their relationship."

They added: "Pete loved Ariana and wanted it to work, but they’ve both had such tragic events happen in their lives. And they are young."

A second source added that Pete was struggling after the break up, but putting on a brave face.

They said: "He’s really broken up about it… He acts like he’s doing OK, but his friends can tell he’s beating himself up about the breakup."

It comes after reports that Pete is already working to get the tattoo tributes he has for his ex covered up.

The former couple broke up just a few days ago, calling off their engagement and their whirlwind romance.

The exes had a number of tattoo tributes to each other inked onto their bodies during their time together, but it’s thought that Pete is already getting his covered up.

And as 25-year-old Ariana was seen – on Wednesday night – in public for the first time since the news broke she wore a Band-Aid over the tiny ‘Pete’ inking she has on her ring finger.

Saturday Night Live star Pete, 25, is said to be getting rid of all traces of Ariana from his life.

He’d already turned the bunny ears tattoo he got for Ariana into a heart when they were pictured together in New York on October 10.

A source told The Sun : "Both Pete and Ariana are heartbroken over the split.

"Of course, they could give it another try, but it seems really final. Pete is already getting his tattoos he got for Ariana covered up with other inkings.

"It must be tough seeing the matching tattoos they got together on his skin every day."

As well as the bunny ears, Pete had her initials tattooed on his thumb and Grande inked down his rib cage.

Pete and Ariana also got four matching tattoos during their five-month relationship.

They’ve both had a cloud etched on their finger and the word ‘reborn’ inked on their hands.

They also both had ‘H2GKMO’ tattooed, which is a nod to Ariana’s favourite phrase, ‘Honest to God Knock Me Out’

Ariana also got a tattoo to match one Pete already had in tribute to his father, who died in the 9/11 terror attacks. He has his father’s badge number inked on his arm, and she recently had it added to her ankle.

Pete also has a tattoo of their pet teacup pig, Piggy Smallz.

Mirror Online has contacted Pete and Ariana’s representatives for comment.
