Congratulations are in order for Amanda Bynes.
The former child star, 33, has graduated from California’s Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising after nearly five years of studying.
Bynes shared a photo of herself and a friend in their caps and gowns on graduation day, captioning it: “FIDM graduate 2019 #fidmgraduation.”
The now-sober actress first enrolled in the design school at the end of 2014. She was reportedly kicked out of the school for causing “horrendous arguments” with classmates, but in 2017 got back on track to graduate.
However, at the start of this year, Bynes reportedly entered a mental health facility following a stress-related relapse. The “She’s the Man” star had been struggling with the attention surrounding comeback attempt, which included auditioning for new roles and attempting to launch a clothing line, according to TMZ.
While seeking help again, Bynes reportedly also sought treatment for drug addiction, which she previously admitted to Paper magazine in 2018 contributed to her public problems. At the time, she said she had been sober for the past four years.
“Those days of experimenting [with substances] are long over,” she told the magazine. “I’m not sad about it and I don’t miss it because I really feel ashamed of how those substances made me act. When I was off of them, I was completely back to normal and immediately realized what I had done — it was like an alien had literally invaded my body. That is such a strange feeling.”
A rep for Bynes didn’t immediately return Page Six’s request for comment.
