The ‘Dance Moms’ alum takes to Instagram to share the happy news, sharing a black-and-white picture of herself showing off her watch.
Abby Lee Miller is finally a free woman. The “Dance Moms” alum was released from her halfway house, the Residential Reentry Center in Long Beach, on Friday, May 25. Abby announced the happy news to her Instagram followers.
Along with a black-and-white picture of her showing off her watch, the 51-year-old wrote, “TIMES UP!!!! Free at last. Free at last. Thank God almighty we are free at last,” referencing to Martin Luther King Jr.’s famous quotes.

TIMES UP!!!! So is my sentence!!! Now I have to handle the aftermath/ treatment/ physical rehabilitation of 10 hour emergency spine surgery to remove a mass from strangling my spinal cord and the horrible severity of what that mass turned out to be! #abbylee #abbyleemiller #abbyleeisfree #free #freedom #dancemoms
While some of her fans were happy to know that their idol has been released, some were upset at her for using Martin’s quotes to express her gratitude. “sis that quote is about racism and discrimination so uh happy you’re ‘free’ but maybe a discrimination quote isn’t the right one,” one fan noted, another added, “Don’t you dare compare your debt to society to human rights.”
Abby was sentenced to one year and one day in prison followed by two years of supervised release after pleading guilty to bankruptcy fraud. She was also fined $40,000 and forced to pay a $120,000 judgment. She started her prison sentence in July last year and was moved to halfway house on March 27.
Now that she has been released from her halfway house, Abby can focus on her undergoing treatment for cancer. A source recently revealed that the reality TV star is struggling to stay positive. “She has two more chemo sessions to go, but she’s in a really bad place mentally and emotionally,” a source told PEOPLE. “She’s really losing it.”
Abby was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma just one day after undergoing emergency surgery for what was initially thought to be spinal infection. It is a type of cancer that develops in the lymphatic system.
