Meghan Markle's dad says 'angry' Prince Harry is behind Duchess of Sussex's explosive letter

Thomas Markle, 74, yesterday released extracts from the five-page letter that saw the Duchess of Sussex accuse him of "creating so much pain" and "exploiting" her relationship with the Prince.

Pregnant Meghan, 37, also begged her dad to stop lying and let them “live our lives in peace” in the handwritten note.

The dad, who lives in Mexico, has since revealed he thinks Prince Harry, 34, was involved in writing the letter after some of the terminology used in the letter.

He particularly singled out that line that saw Meghan implore: "I realise you are so far down this rabbit hole that you feel (or may feel) there’s no way out, but if you take a moment to pause I think you’ll see that being able to live with a clear conscience is more valuable than any payment in the world."

But Thomas said: "Americans don't know what the hell 'down the rabbit hole' means.

"Apparently it's to do with Alice in Wonderland. You Brits use it. That feels like pure Harry."

Royal expert Ingrid Seward agreed, telling The Mirror: "I feel the hand of Harry on this.

"If you look back at the history of Harry and Meghan, he clearly is very angry. She wouldn’t do it without his collaboration."

The family drama comes as Meghan Markle prepares to give birth to her first child in just a few months.

Pals of Meghan told a US mag she had written to her dad, asking to heal the rift which opened before her wedding last May.

But instead of staying silent, Thomas Markle released part of the letter to the press and put the blame back on his pregnant daughter.

In elegant handwriting, Meghan told her "daddy" that her heart had been broken "into a million pieces" over his behaviour.

She wrote: "If you love me… allow us to live our lives in peace. Please stop lying, please stop creating so much pain, please stop exploiting my relationship with my husband."

The Duchess of Sussex claimed she had called and texted her estranged dad, adding: "I pleaded with you to stop reading the tabloids. On a daily basis you fixated and clicked on the lies they were writing about me, especially manufactured by your other daughter, who I barely know.

"You watched me silently suffer at the hand of her vicious lies, I crumbled inside."

The letter, dated last August, revealed her fury over CCTV that proved her father staged pre-wedding photos.

I feel the hand of Harry on this

Meghan wrote: “We all rallied around to support and protect you from day 1, and this you know.

“So to hear about the attacks you’ve made at Harry in the press, who was nothing but patient, kind, and understanding with you, is perhaps the most painful of all.

“For some reason you choose to continue fabricating these stories, manufacturing this fictitious narrative, and entrenching yourself deeper into this web you’ve spun.

“The only thing that helps me sleep at night is the faith and knowing that a lie can’t live forever.

“I believed you, trusted you and told you I loved you. The next morning the CCTV footage came out."

Since the letter was released, Meghan's half-sister has also hit back, saying: "He did try to contact her she was the one who ignored him and all of us. She can write all the fake, contrived letters she wants to show off her penmanship but that’s all it is."

Meghan has thrown herself into work as a royal, attending a string of engagements after being given her first patronages from the Queen.

She and Prince Harry are also looking to move to Frogmore Cottage in Windsor in the coming months, ahead of the arrival of their first baby.
