Argentine star Icardi was pictured with his gorgeous wife Wanda Nara as he watched on at the San Siro.
The 26-year-old forward has been linked with moves to both Man United and Arsenal in the summer.
He has been overlooked by the Serie A giants since February and was stripped of the captaincy.
Icardi and Wanda could only look on as Inter slumped to a 1-0 defeat against Lazio.
Wanda, 32, who is also her husband’s agent, has been criticised for hinting Icardi will leave Inter.
“Today, the only choice for Icardi was to stay out”
Luciano Spalletti, boss, Inter Milan
In February, the stunning Buenos Aires-born model and TV personality shared a cryptic Instagram post with her almost five million followers.
She wrote: “Ignore it when they criticise you, listen when they advise you and walk away when they don’t value you.”
Previously, she claimed Inter should apologise and give Icardi back the captaincy before he ever plays for them again.
After Sunday’s game, Inter boss Luciano Spalletti slammed his out-of-favour striker, claiming he was “humiliating” the club’s supporters.
But the club’s chief executive Giuseppe Marotta insisted Icardi still has a future at the club.
He told Sky Sports Italia: “The reintegration of Icardi is taking place gradually.
“The coach has the right to choose who he works with and who is selected.”
Icardi has scored nine goals in 20 appearances but hasn’t played in the club’s last nine games, sparking intense interest from clubs in the Premier League and beyond.
Spalletti reacted furiously to claims by reporters after the game that Inter could have won if Icardi was playing.
“Today, the only choice for Icardi was to stay out, it is only right that others should play because in the locker room credibility is needed.”
And he added: “People say we lose many games without Icardi, but the team did not qualify for the Champions League for years when he started.”
Wanda married Icardi in 2014, before which she was married to his former Sampdoria teammate Maxi Lopez — who she left in 2013.
