Man diagnosed with rare disease causing him to bleed from his eyes and ears

Mahmud Bahjat was diagnosed by doctors with haemolacria – the medical term for tears of blood.

The 27-year-old Iraqi says blood seeping from his eyes and nose makes daily life almost impossible.

The condition is rare and often goes undiagnosed despite the horrific symptoms.

He revealed the rarely seen condition during an exclusive interview with Anadolu Agency yesterday.

In 2016, a 17-year-old from Stoke on Trent reported she also bled from her eyes and ears.

Marnie – Rae started coughing up blood in March 2013 but after a couple years she woke in the night with her face covered in blood.

 

Miss Rae had multiple tests, saw specialists and was tested for Haemolacria but she was cleared.

Last month, a woman was mistaken as a drunk during morning rush hour when she collapsed at a London Underground station.

Kelly Boyson, 31, has Meziere’s disease, a condition which causes her to suffer from severe dizzy spells and hearing loss.
